Does your family have some favourite words and sayings inherited from parents and grandparents in another language?
Do you want to find out more about some poems, rhymes and songs intimately embedded in the memory of your older generations in another language? Or perhaps you want to pass yours on to your younger generations?
Diaspora Leicester in Translation: Sayings, Songs and Poems (DLiT) aims to connect different generations and communities through the transmission and translation of sayings, poems and songs in languages of our diaspora communities.
Anyone in Leicester with a multilingual background is welcome to participate. See the project website https://dlit.le.ac.uk/ for details, or one of the leaflets or posters you may find in communal spaces.
Please come and join us on:
Wednesday 15th May 2024, 3 – 4.30 pm, Attenborough Arts Centre.
This will be a starting point to share and reflect on multicultural heritage and multilingual memories of yours and of all of us in Leicester.
