“The was passed on by my aunt. I don’t know what it’s called but my cousin and I (singing together in the recording) call it “Vent frais” – Fresh wind. The song is about the wind lifting the branches of the pine tree and the joy that lovely sound brings when you are walking in the morning. Interestingly, we did the recording whilst walking in the forest on a lovely rainy morning (you can actually hear the rain!).
My aunt taught us that song when we were little growing up in Canada, and I have taught it to my children now (whom I am trying to raise bilingual). I just thought it was a lovely example of tradition passed on through the generations.”
